The following is a video sermon on suffering by Matt Chandler, the mid-30’s pastor of The Village Church in the Dallas area, who has been battling cancer for more than a year now. Â The reality is that no matter who you are, you are almost inevitably exiting a time of suffering, in a time of great suffering, or approaching a time of suffering in your life.
And, truthfully, I do not generally assume that only those who have “been there, done that” are able to provide any real help. Â So, it wouldn’t bother me if my allergist had never experienced allergy problems, since he doesn’t need to have had allergy problems personally in order to know what should be done to alleviate my allergy problems. Â That said, particularly on a topic like suffering, I am always interested to gain the perspective of godly men and women who have “been there, done that” or, in the case of Matt Chandler, “are there, doing that.” Â I pray that his perspectives will better equip you to deal with the suffering that inevitably comes upon every human, and especially those who are in Christ. Â I’d love your thoughts…
